Our Mission

Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue is about compassion.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive medical care, behavioral evaluations, and adoptive homes to homeless Golden Retrievers in the six New England states. Goldens may be admitted to YGRR from outside New England on a case-by-case basis.

Rescuing Goldens

YGRR Goldens are placed within the six New England states only (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont). Our dogs are placed into the best homes for them based upon their individual needs and personalities. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your generous wish to open your heart and home to a Rescue Golden.

Caring for Goldens

The majority of dogs coming into YGRR are happy, healthy, tail-wagging Goldens who are in need of new homes due to changing family circumstances. Many others have needed extensive veterinary care and since its inception, YGRR’s approach to veterinary care has set it apart from other rescue organizations.

Volunteer Based

Our organization is operated principally by dedicated volunteer members in collaboration with a committed small professional staff. A variety of volunteer opportunities are offered to YGRR members. This entire Web site was designed and is maintained by YGRR volunteers. Our members reside all over the United States and abroad, sharing an affection for dogs in general and Goldens in particular.
