The six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) constitute the area from which YGRR accepts Goldens in need. We limit ourselves to assisting Goldens from this geographic area because, quite simply, it is all we can afford both financially and humanly. Our volunteers do an extraordinary job of moving dogs around and it would be too taxing to try to accept dogs from neighboring states. Rescue organizations exist in adjacent states and we refer Goldens in need from those areas to them. If you live outside New England and you need to surrender a Golden, please refer to this list of Golden Retriever Rescues http://www.grca-nrc.org/Localrescues.htm to find a Golden Rescue in your geographic area.
