Promises Kept - Autumn Times 2002

by Wendy G., Executive Director

It has always been the policy of YGRR to allow dogs to stay with us for as long as it takes to find an appropriate home. It is one of the ways in which YGRR is different from many other rescues and shelters. YGRR and its Goldens enjoy this privilege because of our members' financial support.

The staff is happy to share the following updates about Rescue Goldens who were featured on our "Looking for Love" page in the Summer Golden Times.

We are happy to report that Gund and Rusty, who were also featured in the Summer Times, have been adopted as well. Jasper was still waiting when the Autumn Times was published, but he has since been adopted!

Hi Folks,

I was happy to adopt Brandy two months ago. She and I have become fast friends. We share a great deal of time together hiking the nearby woods and driving all over town. She loves to ride in the car. If I let her off the leash, she runs and stands by the rear door of the car waiting for me to let her in for a ride.

We spend part of the day visiting the Cedars nursing home. The ladies think the world of her. The only bad thing is they all want to feed her cookies.

I'm sorry we can't make the DogWalk, just too far for us to travel. But we will be thinking of you.

Thanks again for such a wonderful dog.

Charles

Dear Sue, Emma and all of the Yankee Staff,

We wanted to send you a cute postcard from our recent vacation on Cape Cod and send it from our recently adopted Golden boy, Neptune, but as you can see from the enclosed card, there is a little problem. Somehow, the card became nibbled at the edges!

In any case, we want to thank everyone at Yankee for bringing Neptune into our family - he's a great boy, postcard-nibbling and all! We've been to the beach, and swimming in the ocean more this summer, than in many years before, and we've all had a great time. We've been going to Adult Companionship classes and all three of us are learning from them. Neppy is a loving boy, and has brought a lot of fun and laughter to us in the last two months. He has been seizure free so far, too!

Thanks for bringing us all together.

Sincerely,

Al and Cheryl
