YGRR will not approve any type of Invisible or Hidden Fence System for first time YGRR adopters. Repeat adopters, who utilized an electric containment system prior to implementation of this policy, may be considered for another YGRR dog on a case-by-case basis.

Rationale

Over the years it has become clear that the vast majority of dogs that come though Rescue are not appropriate candidates for this type of containment.

This is not a reflection on the many dog owners who choose to utilize Invisible/Hidden fencing, rather a reflection on the background, experiences, and behavior of the typical rescue dog that comes through our program.

However we do need to ask those potential repeat adopters to consider the following:

• Wait time - the wait time for an appropriate dog will most likely be very lengthy. We do not wish to cause frustration or disappointment for our adopters, it is important to us this anticipated time frame is understood at the beginning of the process.
• The system must be manufactured by Pet Stop, Invisible Fence or Dogwatch.
• The installation cannot abut a busy street.
• The Rescue Golden may not be left in the containment system unattended.

We regret if this policy may disqualify some homes, but our first concern must be the safety of the dogs with which we have been entrusted. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
