YGRR Preventive Rescue

"Preventive Rescue," as it was termed in a 1986 newsletter, quickly became a permanent part of the YGRR program. Pet tattoo clinics, public education seminars, Adoption 101 courses for waiting adopters of all breeds, and "how to" workshops for other breed rescue groups as well as distribution of packets of organizational materials for rescue clubs throughout the United States and Canada have been a YGRR tradition. Rescue groups of many breeds run their organizations on YGRR "paperwork" developed by numerous volunteer members. These include everything from Home Visitor and Dog Intake Evaluation forms to guidelines on the development of a Seniors' program. Many hotline calls are counseling requests and YGRR Intake/Adoption Coordinator have helped many families to resolve canine behavioral problems so that their dogs could remain with their families.

Please see our Helpful Dog Info section for informative articles about dog behavior, training and health. Dog owner education is a key component of preventive rescue.
