Happily Adopted! |
Tucker, YGRR #4361 |
Tucker was relinquished to YGRR because his owners were moving and their new home had a no dog policy. He is a five-and-a-half month old puppy who had lived with three teenaged children. His former family described him as a friendly boy that loves people and likes to play fetch. Upon surrender, Tucker had attended and completed a puppy kindergarten class and was in the process of mastering house-training.
Tucker had a healthy appointment with the YGRR veterinarian. His treatment included up-to-date vaccinations, neutering, and tattooing. During his brief stay at Riverview, Tucker received first-rate care. The staff quickly noted he was a great boy for his age and very well mannered.
A dog savvy, repeat adopter of Boomer (YGRR # 2096), was called. Boomer's recent passing left a void in this adopter's life and she was once again ready to provide a loving and nurturing new, forever home. This unique person has lived with Goldens since childhood and completely understands the breed. She was asked to come meet young Tucker. Her active, outdoor lifestyle coupled with understanding the time commitment and the task of puppyhood proved just the right match for Tucker! Tucker now enjoys daily walks, receives the mental stimulation a puppy needs, and is completely loved in his new home! |

K.C., YGRR #4339 |
Ten-year-old K.C. is a big, blond senior. He had lived with his elderly owner since he was a puppy and he was surrendered upon her passing. Unfortunately, for the past few years, K.C. lived a lonely, somewhat sheltered life. His former owner had a lengthy illness which left her in very poor health and in frail condition. Sadly, due to this situation, K.C. was left to live in the laundry room without much human interaction.
K.C. was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where he was given a thorough examination. Overall, his health was good for an older male. He was tattooed, given a dentistry and had a small number of superficial growths removed. K.C. was also found to have osteoarthritis present in his right stifle. So, while at YGRR he was placed on a healthy diet that included joint supplements. The staff found K.C. to be very sweet. He loved human attention and craved affection. He was always wagging his tail!
K.C. deserved a home where he would get plenty of attention. An adopter who had been waiting for a senior Golden was called. The ideal match was paired! K.C. and his new mom adore one another! He enjoys daily walks along the beach, lots of love, and his fenced in yard. What a wonderful transformation for K.C.! He can now take pleasure in the quality time and human interaction he had been waiting for all those years! |

Sandy, YGRR #4297 |
Sandy, Sandy my darling! Sandy is a five-and-a-half-year-old blond golden. This exceptional dog was surrendered due to a divorce situation. Sandy had lived with her family from puppy-hood. She had happily resided with children and two other dogs. Sadly, Sandy was relinquished by her admiring family.
Sandy was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where she was given a thorough examination. She was found to have a urinary tract infection which explained why Sandy's former owners had observed and noted their dog drinking an excessive amount of water and urinating frequently. Sandy was immediately placed on a course of antibiotics. Additionally, the YGRR veterinarian removed a small cyst from her stifle and she was tattooed. While at Riverview, Sandy became a staff and dog favorite. Her friendly, energetic personality was welcomed by all!
Repeat adopters of Bingo, YGRR# 3391, who now have a young family, were called to meet sensational Sandy. This loving family had been waiting to adopt an easygoing dog to provide companionship, romps, and play time for Bingo. All went well at the scheduled adoption appointment. By the end of the meeting Sandy was calling Bingo her new big brother!
Sandy now has a lovely fenced in yard and the dogs are rarely left alone since there is always someone home. The family has called to say Sandy is doing great! She is interacting well with Bingo and is a loyal companion with her human brother and sister as well! This is a perfect ending for sweet-as-they-come Sandy. |

Cassidy, YGRR #4357 |
Cute Cassidy is a ten-year-old gold, spayed female. A veterinarian in a neighboring state called YGRR in December asking for assistance. Cassidy had been taken to her animal hospital to be euthanized because the former owner complained, "Cassidy smelled too bad to keep." In fact, he did not consider his dog's care a top priority any longer. This compassionate veterinarian convinced Cassidy's owner to sign her over to the animal hospital in lieu of ending the dog's life.
Indeed Cassidy had legitimate medical issues--all of which were treatable. First, all four of Cassidy's feet were infected as well as her ears and her skin. She was mildly incontinent and had sore hips and lower back pain because of arthritis. The veterinarian in the neighboring state quickly began treatment for all of Cassidy's issues. Straight away the YGRR Kennel Manager drove to pick up Cassidy. Cassidy was brought to the YGRR veterinarian for further assessment.
It was determined she needed four masses removed which later were found to be benign. A complete geriatric workup was performed which included x-rays and blood work. Cassidy was also found to be hypothyroid dog. She is on a maintenance medication program for life to address her hypothyroidism and arthritis issues; she is responding beautifully to her plan! While at Riverview, her ear and skin infections cleared up and she is now clean and healthy without any residual odor. Cassidy became know as a peach of a senior Golden girl who certainly has a lot more life left in her!
The adoption coordinator contacted a couple whose family dynamics would prove to match with Cassidy! This couple had adopted an older female from YGRR a number of years ago. Although they sadly lost their beloved family member, they were certainly ready for another friendly, gentle, and loving senior Golden. This couple truly understands the breed. They also have the time, ability, and resources to provide the care and appropriate environment for a maturing Golden. Without a doubt, Cassidy has much to live for now! Cassidy certainly has found a fantastic family with whom to spend the rest of her life. |
