Happily Adopted!
Max, YGRR #3469

YGRR has a "lifetime safety net" policy to provide full comprehensive care for all Golden Retrievers who enter our program. Our mission is to find a permanent, ideal family match for all the Golden Retrievers who are surrendered. If for any reason life circumstances change for our adopters and they are not able to keep their pet, the Golden must be brought back to YGRR. Riverview is the safe haven for our Golden Retrievers until permanent home placement can be made.

Max is a five-year-old, red Golden. He originally entered the program at five months. He was surrendered to YGRR as a very young puppy because he had too much energy for his youthful family and required more time than they could give him. At that time, a caring couple who understood the time commitment and had the energy to give an energetic puppy was found. Max lived with his second family for almost five years! However, their lifestyle changed with retirement and they found themselves traveling often. Max was returned to YGRR because they felt their lifestyle change was unfair to Max's quality of life.

Max was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where he was given a thorough examination. Overall he was in good health, with the exception of being overweight. So, Max was placed on a healthy diet to lose a few pounds. The staff found Max had grown to be a good boy. He loved human attention and was always wagging his tail!

Max deserved a home where he would receive top quality attention. The Adoption Coordinator called a retired, repeat adopter who had lived with and cared for Golden Retrievers. He has the time and knack to provide a loving and nurturing forever home. He was looking to adopt another good-as-gold companion who could keep up with his active lifestyle. Max now looks forward to three walks a day with his new forever father! Max and his new dad are very happy indeed! Third time's a charm for Max!

Happily Adopted!
Astro (Murphy), YGRR #4356

Here comes amazing Astro! Astro is a big, blonde three-year-old boy. He was surrendered to YGRR because his family had an unexpected move to a very small apartment, a young baby, and felt they could no longer provide quality time for their friendly boy. His previous owners described him as cuddly, sweet, and playful. They knew YGRR would take excellent care of their beloved boy and find the perfect forever home.

Astro was given a thorough exam by the YGRR veterinarian who found our happy boy to have a few treatable issues. First, Astro had mild ear infections and was placed on ear medication to clear up this issue. Next, he had worms and was given a course of medication. Then, Astro was brought up-to-date on his vaccinations and tattooed. And finally, due to weight concerns, Astro was placed on a healthy diet to shed some unnecessary pounds. Astro was soon brought to Riverview where the staff soon found our big boy to be a friendly, easy-going fellow. While living in the kennel, he was a good, solid resident who was an exemplary role model for the other dogs.

When Astro was ready for adoption, a caring and well-informed family who was looking for a good-as-gold family member was called. This special family had owned and been raised with Goldens and were looking for a well-mannered dog that would get along with their two-year-old Norwich Terrier. All went well at the adoption appointment and Astro is now in his new adoptive home. Astro's name has been lovingly changed to "Murphy." Murphy's new family has reported he is doing great! He and his new brother, Hobbs, get along extremely well. Murphy loves his new family, especially the children, and walks beautifully on leash. He has a lovely fenced in yard and can play all day! It is a happy Easter Day for Murphy! And his previous owners can have an easy mind knowing he now has the quality and quantity time with his new family that they wished for him!

Happily Adopted!
Leo, YGRR #4365

Leo-the-lion-hearted is a ten-month-old blonde boy. This energetic puppy was surrendered when his young family was in the process of moving and felt Leo was simply too much work. Leo had lived with children and was housebroken, but he had not had any obedience training or even basic puppy kindergarten.

Leo was brought to the YGRR veterinarian and given a thorough examination. He was treated for worms, brought up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, and tattooed. Leo was a very likeable fellow and the kennel staff found him to be a typical puppy. He was a very active, high energy boy who did well with consistent handling.

This playful puppy was going to need a dog savvy home that would invest time into his training and shaping positive behavior. A special family was sought that understood the time commitment, energy input, and resources necessary to provide the proper development for a puppy. A couple was called who were looking to adopt a young, active Golden. This dynamic pair is physically active and wanted a dog that would match their busy lifestyle. They were invited to meet young Leo. The scheduled adoption appointment went beautifully and this couple knew Leo was the puppy for them! Leo has settled in to his new home. He now enjoys three scenic walks a day, his fenced-in yard, and time hiking and vacationing in the White Mountains! Hurray for Leo!
