Lucy, YGRR #4722 |
Happily Adopted! |
In the fall of 2009, YGRR received a call from a veterinarian asking for assistance with a 10 year old Golden named Lucy. Her owners had brought the dog in for euthanasia because of chronic ear and skin infections. Lucy was quickly picked up and brought to the YGRR veterinarian. Lucy's skin and ears were in terrible condition and she was also found to be heartworm positive. Lucy was in such bad shape that heartworm treatment could not begin immediately. After several months, Lucy was healthy enough to begin the treatment and was monitored closely. This treatment can be very harsh for an older Golden and she had to be kept absolutely quiet for two months. Lucy was finally heartworm free and was spayed.
Repeat adopters were called who enjoy adopting senior Goldens to meet Lucy. They saw what a happy girl Lucy was and were instantly won over by her sweet personality. Lucy is finally in her new adoptive home with owners who absolutely adore her! |

Charlie, YGRR #4798 |
Happily Adopted! |
Charlie's owner found herself in need of YGRR when she lost her job and could no longer afford to care for a dog. She described her two-year-old boy as a loving dog who enjoyed chewing on her slippers! Charlie was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where he was neutered and given his tattoo.
An adopter was called to meet Charlie and the two of them were a great match. Charlie now enjoys daily walks along the ocean, playing with all of his new pals at a local dog park, and enjoying country living on weekends--where he still takes slippers and reading glasses! Charlie's new adopter has found lots of positive outlets for his energy and she describes him as her new best friend. |

Copper, YGRR #4749 (left) and Bella |
Happily Adopted! |
Copper is enjoying life in his adoptive home with new Golden "Sister" Bella! Copper was given up at the age of 8, because his family was moving and could not take the dog. They described Copper as a friendly and affectionate Golden. Copper was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where he was found to be in good health. He didn't have to wait long for his new adoptive family!
Copper's adopters couldn't be happier with their new Golden boy. They say that one of his favorite activities is to walk around their town center and get lots of pats from all the people walking by. Copper also knows that he will be walking by restaurants and is always on the outlook for a stray crumb! He and Bella love hanging out together in the yard--a happy ending for this Golden boy!

Elway, YGRR #4746
|
Happily Adopted! |
One-year old-Elway spent most of the time outside because he was such an enthusiastic young dog and his owners had no time to train him. They said that Elway was a great, playful dog but had no house manners. Elway came to the YGRR veterinarian where he was neutered and given his YGRR tattoo. Repeat adopters were called who were up to the challenge of providing Elway with the training and structure he needed. Elway is now enrolled in an obedience class, gets lots of exercise and appropriate toys to chew. His adopters say Elway is doing just great in his new home!
