Happily Adopted!

Nomar, YGRR #4416 |
Nomar is a five-year-old gentle Golden boy. He was surrendered to YGRR when a former family member developed allergies and they could no longer afford dog ownership. Although allowed indoors at night, this wonderful boy spent hour upon hour day after day outside without much interaction with his family. Brighter days were ahead for this good dog!
Nomar was seen by the YGRR veterinarian for examination. He was hypothyroid and on medication. Nomar was brought up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, and tattooed. Soon he was Riverview bound. The staff quickly found Nomar had a sweet disposition and happily wagged his tail wanting to be with people. They also noted he was a clean, solid resident in the kennel.
Nomar's forever family would soon be found. New adopters who came highly recommended by the YGRR Home Visitor were called. This loving family had recently lost their beloved Golden and missed the companionship and love she had brought to their lives since puppyhood. They were knowledgeable with the breed and understood the time commitment of dog ownership. Nomar met his new family at the scheduled adoption appointment where the perfect match was made! Nomar's forever family absolutely loves him! They said, "He's a truly wonderful, loving dog. He constantly wags his tail and loves getting attention from us, but not in a pushy way. He's a very gentle guy. We feel as though we have struck gold with Nomar!" Nomar now enjoys his fenced in yard, daily walks, and lots of human interaction. Certainly a beautiful beginning for Nomar and his family!

Bud, YGRR #4405 (left) and Bobo, YGRR #4404 (right)
|

Bobo and Bud are six-and-a-half and eight-year-old golden boys respectively. The "Big Brothers" were surrendered in the spring because of a divorce situation of their previous owners. Their former father received custody of the boys, but worked long hours away from home. Unfortunately, he could not devote time to his favorite boys. He called YGRR knowing we would find just the right forever home.
Bobo and Bud were brought to the caring and thorough YGRR veterinarian. Bud, being a senior, was given a complete geriatric workup. Both boys were brought up-to-date on their vaccinations, given a dentistry, and tattooed. Due to weight concerns each was placed on a healthy diet to shed some unnecessary pounds and nutritional supplements added to meals for joints. The boys came to Riverview to take up residence. The staff noted that within a few weeks their timid personalities shed away and the two emerged as very nice dogs!
It would take just the right family to match Bobo and Bud. After reviewing adoption applicants, YGRR's Adoption Coordinator contacted a couple who were knowledgeable, repeat adopters (Buster, YGRR #3346). This Golden Retriever couple has lived with multiple dogs. They wanted to adopt again and were looking for two good-as-gold dogs. When they came to the scheduled adoption appointment, they knew the "Big Brothers" would fit beautifully with their family. Now Bobo and Bud look forward to daily walks, playtime, and lots of love.

Grace, YGRR #4425 |
Good-as-gold Grace is a seven-month-old Golden girl. Grace's former owners called YGRR to surrender their active puppy, because they felt she played too roughly with the older Border Terrier of the house. Her previous owners had completed Puppy Kindergarten and Gracie understood a few commands. Unfortunately, this family did not have the time to work with an energetic puppy that needed consistent training and daily exercise. They knew we would find sweet Gracie the most appropriate, loving, and structured forever home.
Gracie was seen by the YGRR veterinarian. At her health visit she was brought up-to-date on her vaccinations and tattooed. The YGRR staff found Gracie to be delightful. She was easy to handle, and loved the company of people and other dogs. Our girl was a quick study and flourished in a predictable environment with consistent handling and training.
Gracie was going to need a home with dog savvy owners who could set clear parameters and provide consistent, loving training. Adopters with a healthy, active lifestyle who had the knack of dog ownership and came highly recommended by the YGRR Home Visitor were called to meet Gracie. This family wanted to provide a structured and loving home to a rescue Golden. They were hoping for a young dog that could enjoy their active, playful lifestyle. All went well at the scheduled adoption appointment! Gracie's forever family has called to say she has settled in to her new home and is great with the children. They all love her! Gracie now enjoys active, fun-filled days that include daily walks and her fenced-in backyard where she can fetch and play with her children!

Dorji (George), YGRR #4434, and Jib |
Dorji is a handsome three-and-a-half year old blonde Golden. His owner called YGRR to surrender Dorji after a big move and long commute which did not allow her to spend the quality time she knew her special boy deserved. Dorji's former owner said, "Dorji loves people and wants to be with you."
Dorji was seen by the YGRR veterinarian. He was brought up-to-date on his vaccinations and tattooed. He then made his way to Riverview where he had a brief, yet pleasant stay. The staff quickly noted Dorji was great with people and other dogs. He would be a wonderful companion for just the right forever home.
It did not take long for the Adoption Coordinator to find Dorji's special family. A fabulous adoptive family who came highly recommended by the YGRR Home Visitor was called. This dog savvy family has owned dogs over many years and even showed one to champion status. They love the Golden Retriever breed and understand the time commitment required to care for a furry family member. Dorji and his loving family adore each other. And even more fun for Dorji are his new brothers, Angus the Westland High White Terrier and Jib the Pug. Dorji is now known as "George." George's new mother called to say they think he is "perfect." He and his new brothers get along very well and play beautifully together! She said, "It is as if he has always been part of the family." George now spends active, fun-filled days and receives the quality time he deserves!
