Seasonal Health and Safety Hazards

Summer Fruits

Make sure that your dog does not help himself to anything with a pit (peaches, plums, etc.). Dogs can easily swallow them but do not always pass them in their stool. Pits can become embedded in the dog's intestinal tract and abdominal surgery become necessary to remove them.

Stings

Although most dogs experience only skin redness, swelling and itchiness from bites, others are allergic and can die from bites. Monitor your dog carefully after encounters with bees, wasps, spiders, etc. If he becomes uncoordinated, vomits or has pale gums, rush him to the veterinarian immediately.
