Two Rescue Goldens, Salem, YGRR #1268 and Shiloh, YGRR # 2603 are in the service of government agencies. In 1996, Salem was named one of the top ten U.S. Customs Drug Detection Dogs of the year. Shiloh is currently in training with Connecticut State Police. Many other YGRR dogs have become therapy dogs in service at hospitals such as the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital. One such therapy dog, Brandon, was a puppy from the 1989 "River Rescue" - a litter rescued from a backyard breeder who, unable to sell the pups, planned to drown them in the river. Chip, YGRR #856, an adult stray, won national acclaim as the Delta Society Therapy Dog of the Year.
