Special Note to Applicants With Swimming Pools
 

 

Because of tragedies involving the drowning of dogs both in pools that were open for the summer and pools that were closed for the winter, the YGRR Board has established the following policy:

If the Rescue Golden will have access to the pool:

  • The pool must have steps; ladders are not acceptable

  • The pool must have an "elephant proof" cover which fits snugly to the edge. Your dog is likely to run and play on the cover. Make certain your cover can hold the weight of a dog and that he cannot fall through the cover or between it and the edge of the pool.
